Pastor's Bio
Rev. Jeremy H. Upton is an anointed preacher and gifted teacher who is passionately committed to impacting a generation to influence their culture for Jesus Christ. Unique in his ministry journey, he has been involved in ministry since the age of 13 and has dedicated his life to serving God in the Body of Christ. Having been molded by God into a champion for cutting-edge ministry and strategic discipleship in the Body of Christ, Rev. Upton's greatest concern for himself and others is a transparently real relationship with Jesus Christ.
Rev. Upton is a magna cum laude graduate of Morehouse College and a cum laude graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary, earning a Masters Degree in Theology, with a concentration in Pastoral Leadership. In addition, he has also studied at Carver Bible College (Atlanta, GA) and New Orleans Baptist Seminary (New Orleans, LA). In the summer of 2007, he was involved in postgraduate study in preaching at Oxford University in England.
Rev. Upton was licensed to the ministry by Bishop Eddie L. Long, senior pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Decatur, GA in 1998, where he served on full-time staff for four years in such capacities as Administrator of Bishop L. Long Ministries, Special Assistant to Bishop Long, and Middle School/Assistant Youth Pastor.
Rev. Upton was ordained under Dr. Denny D. Davis, senior pastor of St. John Baptist Church, "One Church in Multiple Locations."" While there, Rev. Upton, formerly the Youth Pastor, served as the Executive Pastor and preaching assistant to Pastor Davis.
In 2008, at the direction of the Holy Spirit, he was called back to new Birth Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Eddie L. Long. Rev. Upton serves at the executive level as the Executive Director of the New Birth Church Association, overseeing the training of church planters and strategic planning for New Birth church plants.
He and his lovely wife Brianna have been blessed with three wonderful children and enjoy using their lives and time serving the Lord by being a blessing to God's people. Committed to Christ and to being a Godly husband and father, Rev. Upton is dedicated to declaring the Word of God, displaying a Godly lifestyle, and discipling people to walk with God, that he "may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus (Colossians 1:28c)."
